Match Report : 5th T20: FUCC vs TUFCC, Weston Park, 4/1/2017

Post date: May 04, 2017 4:36:13 PM

FUCC won all their games comfortably this season and are looking to continue their undefeated streak. The conditions are very wet due to heavy rain over night. FUCC Stand-in captain Sukesh lost the toss and FUCC were put to bat first. Raj and Amit started off very cautiously and they started to score runs. Amit got out hit-wicket in the 3rd over from Shan when he tried to stop the ball which was going on to the stumps. Yash joined Raj and they both setup a good partnership with some great running along with scoring on loose balls. The odd ball was skidding due to wet field and the sixes are hard to come-by due to the heaviness of the ball. Still, they managed to hang-in there by keeping their head down and scoring runs when ever they could. FUCC were at 40/1 by the end of 6 overs. They had a 74run partnership before Raj got out on the long-off boundary with a beautiful catch by Shahid. Then came Sunil who started hitting well but got out on the long-on boundary and then FUCC lost Yash and SunnyE in quick session. Those were some anxious moments in the dug-out, when things looked like a collapse but Rahul and shiv ensured the kind of  team we are and showed everyone how to rebuild the innings and score the runs. They ran so hard for the initial 3 overs without taking risks and then when things looked settled, they kept scoring boundaries of every delivery. Finally, FUCC were able to double the score in last 8 overs due to some great batting in the end by Rahul and SHiv. FInally FUCC ended up scoring 183 from the 20 overs which is a huge total when you look at the conditions in the morning.

These are the best performers in the batting department . Raj - 47(36)    Yash - 37(28)   Shiv - 40*(21)   Rahul 31*(17)

By the start of second innings, the ground dried up and FUCC were ready for some counter attack by TUFCC. The second innings started with Sukesh and  Shiv sharing the new ball. Shahn and Taz Ameen opened for TUFCC. Sukesh and Shiv bowled very economically by not giving any free runs. Sukesh got the first break during the 3rd over when he cleaned up Taz Ameen. Shiv continued to bowl with very tight line and length. At the end of 6overs, TUFCC were at 26/1. They had humongous total ahead to chase. Vinod came-in as first change and Amit as 2nd change. They both continued the pressure on them. Vinod removed Umar in his 2nd over and the captain of TUFCC "Imran" joined Shahn and they started counter-attacking the bowlers. Imran was able to score some quick runs before he got out to Harish, courtesy some great catching by Amit Tayade. At that moment TUFCC were still in business with some 80runs needed from 6-7 overs. Harish, the leading wicket taker of CCL was again in business right away producing chances in every over. Yash was asked to try his luck with the ball for the first time and he bowled decently, but couldn't get any wicket. Vinod on the other end continued to bowl according to the field and kept taking wickets. Sunil was introduced in the last over and he did his job well by grabbing two wickets in 2 balls.  At one point of time FUCC looked like they are going to wrap them below 100, but It was a bad day for catching department of FUCC, as there were at-least 10 dropped chances which resulted in TUFCC scoring 146 runs.

These are the best performers in bowling department. Vinod 3/34,   Harish 2/37,   Sunil 2/7.   Shiv was very economical with 15runs from 4 overs.

Overall Great Batting with Partnerships, Good Economical Bowling, Great catches from Amit Tayade, Good ground fielding from FUCC gave us a well deserved 5th win of the season and a momentum to take forward into the second game of the day.
