Hello Team,

Finally we had our 1st match after a long break. It was a hot day and we traveled to Salvation Army ground in Gastonia. We won the toss and elected to bat. We had a new opening pair  for this match. Teji and Sunil started off well but we lost Sunil early, Shiva got out soon as well. Rahul and Teji started rebuilding the innings. Rahul's held on to one end and this helped Teji to play his natural game and runs kept coming with ease. The two took it til drinks and had a 50 run partnership with Teji bulk of it and reached his 1st half century of the season. Rahul got out soon after drinks. Navanith started off well but soon got out with 9 overs to go. Now Teji had a big task of making sure we batted full 30 overs and also post a decent total. Dennis ensured that we did not miss any of our senior players and attacked opposition by scoring a quick runs including 2 big sixes. Teji trying to accelerate fell 8 short of a well deserved 100 and soon we had a mini collapse. Amit and Sitta ensured that we played full 30 overs and we reached 193/9. Highlight of the batting was Teji's 92.

Sukesh and Navanith shared the new ball as usual and provided us early wickets. Sukesh destroyed GWCC top order by picking 5 wickets and GWCC were reduced to 40/6 in 11 overs. Dennis and Sitta were among wickets as well. Navanith and Amit came for back for their 2nd spell and ended GWCC innings. Overall our ground fielding was excellent and we backed up our bowlers. This was our 1st game where we played on both ends and fielders were able to adjust to positions in no time with ease. Rahul also did a good job keeping in the absence of Raj.

We need to improve in reducing the number of wides. We started practicing on our ground fielding there has been a significant improvement in the last few games. We need to come up with a plan to reduce the number of wides in upcoming games.

Overall great start to thee season. Lets carry this energy and momentum in our future matches.

MOM - Teji.
